Paddle for Home!

Posted on June 20, 2017
Paddle for Home! is happening again this year, on Sunday June 25.  A group of us will paddle down the CT River from the Sunderland bridge to the new Northampton boat ramp, starting between 9:30 and 10:00.  There will also be an opportunity for people to do a shorter paddle starting at the boat ramp take-out point, and joining the other paddlers as they arrive.  Food, music, & celebration at the boat ramp parking area will follow, from 1:30 – 3:00.  To participate, go to this link and once there, click on “join this team”: Paddle for Home! site If you have questions, email us through the contact on the Friends website, or call Rick at 413-320-1886. Though people can donate directly to the main Paddle for Home! site, we encourage participants to ask friends and relatives to donate in honor of their paddle.  The three top fundraisers will win prizes to recognize their effort.  We are almost to our goal for creating the housing — in the home stretch.  Help us reach that goal and finish the supportive housing program that will lift young adults out of homelessness! We thank Northampton Community Rowing, the Connecticut River Conservancy, Sylvester’s Restaurant, and the American Canoe Association, for co-sponsoring this event & making it possible!

Downtown Holiday Singing 2016

Posted on December 21, 2016
We wish everyone a happy holidays & New Year!  Our annual Downtown Holiday Singing series has just ended after beautiful performances by many groups.  We thank all of the singers; Brit Albritton who organized the series again; our business helpers, esp. Hungry Ghost Bread, and Inspirit Crystals who each hosted materials and served as rallying points for the singers; and the Downtown Northampton Association, who folded some of our groups into the Holiday Stroll.  Performances ranged from classical to jazz to rock to traditional carols; from small to very large groups; and from instrumental to vocal.  It was an inspiring ending to a busy year.

What is 12-12-13?

Posted on November 25, 2013
Valley Gives Day is a one-day online fundraiser for hundreds of Pioneer Valley nonprofits, a chance for you to open your heart by supporting groups and causes important to you. As well as the individual gifts, bonus amounts will be randomly awarded to specific gifts – so each gift increases our chance of receiving one of these “golden tickets”. We hope you will donate to the Friends of Hampshire County Homeless Individuals, and other worthy nonprofits, on December 12.  To stay updated on this and our other activities, Like us on Facebook (below) or join our email list.
